How to Naturally Dye Easter Eggs

Skip the synthetic dyes this year and try these beautiful, natural alternatives made from fruits, veggies, and spices!

🍋 What You’ll Need:

White eggs (hard-boiled)

White vinegar

Natural dye ingredients (see ideas below)

Water

Pots for boiling

Bowls or jars for soaking

🌿 Natural Dye Ingredients & Colors

 

Here are a few easy options — experiment and have fun!

Ingredient

Blue

Red cabbage (chopped) or blueberries

Yellow

Turmeric (1–2 tbsp)

Pink

Beets (chopped) or raspberries

Orange

Yellow onion skins

Green

Spinach or parsley

🧪 Basic Instructions

 

Make Your Dye:

  • Add 1–2 cups of your natural ingredient to a pot with 2 cups of water.

  • Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15–30 minutes.

  • Strain the liquid into a bowl or jar.

  • Stir in 1 tbsp of vinegar per cup of dye liquid.

     

Dye the Eggs:

  • Place your hard-boiled eggs into the dye.

  • Let them sit for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight in the fridge for deeper colors.

  • Carefully remove and dry on a paper towel or drying rack.
